Filter Solution for Hospital
Putrajaya Hospital took the initiative to convert ten of their regular Intensive Care Units into a negative pressure chamber to enhance their level of protection against airborne contamination due to the daily record-breaking cases now in Malaysia. These ten ICUs are intended for severe COVID-19 patients, whereas those with mild COVID-19 are allocated to the COVID ward.
AAF Asia offered a solution to reduce the chances of mixing breathable air in the hospital without compromising their existing HVAC system. Isolating severe Covid-19 patients in a hospital with limited space and time is a challenge. However, the versatility of AstroPure™ 450 made it possible to convert a normal ICU with positive pressure to a negative-pressurized room. The solution did not only address the current situation, but it also allowed Putrajaya Hospital to comply with the WHO “Roadmap to improve and ensure good indoor ventilation in the context of COVID-19” by achieving 12 ACH where there is an aerosol generating procedure.
Challenges 1 – Reduce the chances of mixing breathable air in the hospital
Challenges 2 – Without compromising their existing HVAC system
Challenges 3 – Convert a normal ICU with positive pressure to a negative-pressurized room
The AAF team visited Putrajaya Hospital to assess the room that would be converted into a negative pressure room. The room volume, total supply and return airflow including the air exhaust were all taken into account in order to give the optimum solution and suit the customer’s needs. Because these ICUs execute AGP, the goal is to achieve a negative pressure chamber with 12 ACH.
The leak-tested AstroPure™ 450 UV units were installed in their ICUs, each with a preinstalled H14 HEPA filter that can trap finer particles on which pathogens can “piggyback” and with a built-in UVC lamp to deactivate microorganisms trapped on the filter. To attend to more severe Covid-19 patients and to address the call of the Ministry of Health in Malaysia, Putrajaya Hospital team up with AAF to intensify the battle against Covid-19 by installing AstroPure™ 450 UV in their facility.

Clean air is vital in hospital and healthcare facility operations to protect patients, staff and visitors from airborne diseases and infections, as well as to provide a comfortable, healthy and odour-free environment.
Indoor Air Quality
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a term that refers to the air quality in your building, breathed in every day by the building’s occupants. The pollution levels in indoor air can be up to 5 times higher than outdoor levels, and people spend more than 90% of their time indoors.
Air Filtration Audit
A thorough air filter audit of your HVAC systems is the first step that AAF International takes in order to provide you with professional guidance and analysis for cost savings and risk reduction. By conducting this audit, we will be able to understand exactly how you compare to the best practices of companies that are similar to you.
