Air Solutions for Process Control Environment
Corrosive gases in industrial environments (ammonia, chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides) can cause corrosion to the control equipment circuitry. Hence, AAF International understands the need to provide gas-phase and particulate filtration systems for process control environments in order to eliminate process shutdown due to control equipment failures, maintain high process efficiency; and extend the circuit board life to reduce replacement costs.
A representative from AAF International visited and understood the situation of the customer. The electronic parts on the customer’s site were corroded as a result of the severe corrosive environment, with the “drive inverter” and “DCS & PLC system” lasting only an average of two weeks. The expense includes not only the cost of replacing the drive inverter every two weeks, but also the “process breakdown cost,” which is another significant source of high costs.
Challenges 1 – Gas-phase and particulate filters
Challenges 2 – Maintain high process efficiency
Challenges 3 – Extend the circuit board life to reduce replacement costs
AAF International representative proposed SAAF™ Reactivity Monitoring Coupons (RMCs) in order to conduct site assessment which relates directly to the quantified reactivity of the environment per ISA-71.04-2013 classifications for pre and post installation of Gas-Phase Solutions; and SAAF™ Air Purification Systems (RU1000V) as a Total Clean Air Solutions for the customer to solve the root cause of the corrosion problem. SAAF™ Air Purification Systems are designed to be installed with the combination of pre, secondary, high-efficiency, and gas-phase filters within a self-contained stand-alone unit. This unique unit is designed for optimal removal of particulates and gaseous contaminants from the air.
After the SAAF™ Air Purification Systems had been installed on the site, the first obvious observation was that the corrosion level on the site had improved from severe to moderate/mild. This significant advancement results in a cleaner environment that not only protects equipment but also personnel who work in that environment.
Furthermore, the facility staffs discovered that the maintenance interval could be increased from 2 to 6 weeks, reducing the annual maintenance cost (cost of changing the drive invertor excluding “process breakdown cost”) to 88.5 percent less than before the SAAFTM Air Purification Systems were installed. The customers felt satisfied with the cost savings as well as with the Total Clean Air Solutions provided by AAF International.

Healthcare
Clean air is vital in hospital and healthcare facility operations to protect patients, staff and visitors from airborne diseases and infections, as well as to provide a comfortable, healthy and odour-free environment.

Indoor Air Quality
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a term that refers to the air quality in your building, breathed in every day by the building’s occupants. The pollution levels in indoor air can be up to 5 times higher than outdoor levels, and people spend more than 90% of their time indoors.

Air Filtration Audit
A thorough air filter audit of your HVAC systems is the first step that AAF International takes in order to provide you with professional guidance and analysis for cost savings and risk reduction. By conducting this audit, we will be able to understand exactly how you compare to the best practices of companies that are similar to you.
